What Does Good Look Like?

Whoa! That sounds like a baffling question.

I mean, if no man has ever “seen God”, how do we know what He looks like?  Are we not passionately curious as to just what He looks like? Thus, can we know what He looks like? To add to this mystery, John 1:18 declares, “No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.”

Yet, we know that Moses saw Him on the Mountain and Abraham saw Him at the tent meeting outside of Sodom and even fixed a dinner for Him. For sure, Adam saw God face-to-face and Enoch walked with God face-to-face for 300 years! This should give us an impression that God wants to physically as well as spiritually relate to His Creation, to walk with them and have joy and fellowship with the supreme of His Creation. And He wants to do this eternally.

As we walk through God’s magnificent museum of truth, surveying the various revelations of the Sovereign ruler of the universe, with limpid clearness of a crystal, we come to see God. That is His desire, the revelation of His Being, His Glory.

What came into my spirit some time ago was the issue: just how big is our God? Like, what is his height??  With respect to God’s “size”, some may think of God as being this towering giant of a Person who looks down upon us. But a Person of that size could not walk face-to-face with His creation. I personally have come to believe God the Father, who is spirit, is the size of the man Jesus, His Son. To be clear, spirits do have a “body” – it’s an eternal celestial body, one that can be seen at times. Many times in scripture, angels (spirits) have appeared to be seen by men, and even have carried swords and destroyed men. Finally, when Jesus was resurrected and appeared to His disciples, He was in His new celestial eternal body, one that still could be recognized and one that still would carry the scars of the crucifixion in His hands and in His side. And scripture promises that we too one day we will have our celestial body, in tact with our spirit and soul that He gave us.

With regard to this size issue, scripture reveals that God created man in His express image: spirit, soul and body. In the Greek, that word “express image” denotes the image one would see by pressing a signet ring into a piece of wax – you would see the exact image of the rings configuration. And Jesus finalized that truth by stating that He was the image of God the Father, and that “if you have seen me, you’ve seen the Father.”

Yes, no one has seen the “fullness” of the glory of God’s face, yet scripture reveals a host of men of God have seen His “appearance”, His glory. How? When?

     II Cor 4:3-4
“But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.”

     Phil 2:5-7
“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.”

     Col 1:15-17
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.”

     Heb 1:1-3
“God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,…”

As Jesus himself who explained to his disciples, those wanting to actually see God, “If you have seen me, you have seen the Father, for the Father and I are one.” Look at these further confirmations of this truth:

Scripture reveals that Jesus was the glory of God the Father – John 1:10-14
“He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. 11 He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”

One day very soon, if you are a believer, you too will walk face-to-face with the King of kings and with the Ancient of Ages, the Lord your God. And to initiate this, you are invited to participate in the great Wedding Feast of the Groom, Jesus Christ, and His Bride in the promised Millennium Age, a feast that will last for 1000 years! That event is at our doorsteps!

Do you believe this? You can read all about this in His best seller, the Bible. But you’ve got to believe.
